No matter what type of business you have, it is very important to promote your business on the Internet. Whether you are just starting out, are a medium size company or you are a multi-national company, promoting your business on the Internet can very well make or break its future. The following article will give you countless reasons why it is so important to promote your business on the Internet.
One of the most important reasons to promote your business on the Internet is because you are able to expose your business to a much wider audience across town or across the world. For example, as of March 2011, statistics show that as many as 2 billion people across the globe have access to the Internet.[i] This figure is more than a year old; therefore, there are probably many more people online now. Since you are able to reach 2 billion or more people around the world and market your product(s) or service(s) to them, you will almost certainly increase your sales.
Other important reasons to promote your business on the Internet include giving your business the ability to connect and market your business’ services and/or products to the world. Promoting your business on the Internet allows you and your business to find clients that have a use for your product(s) or service(s). The Internet allows you to network with established contacts and find new clients to grow and expand your business.[ii] Along with connecting with existing and new clients, putting your business on the Internet enables you to market your product(s) or service(s) to known and unknown customers. The Internet enables you to create web pages, advertise electronically, utilize e-mail marketing and connect with clients all over the world over the Internet.[iii]
It is important to promote your business on the Internet because you will be able to target demographics, niche markets and pinpoint markets relevant to your business. No matter what age range, sex, income level or whatever demographic you are attempting to target, the Internet reaches virtually all demographics.[iv] An Internet marketing expert could not have said it better, “The demographic of the WWW user is probably the highest mass-market demographic available. Usually college-educated or being college educated, making a high salary or soon to make a high salary, it’s no wonder that Wired magazine, the magazine of choice to the Internet community, has no problem getting Lexus and other high-end marketers advertising. Even with the addition of the commercial on-line community, the demographic will remain high for many years to come.”[v] Since the Internet is so expansive and continues to reach more people every day, it will only become easier to reach more potential customers for whatever niche your business is targeting.
Promoting your business on the Internet enables your business to have a virtual testing market and near instant feedback on your service(s) or products. The Internet allows you to run advertisements on both traditional web pages and mobile web pages. Unlike traditional advertising which requires days, weeks, if not month for feedback, online marketing enables near instant feedback. The feedback can even be automated. Along with testing advertisements, your business can also get feedback much sooner and much easier than spending time with your existing employees. You will be able to learn all about your products and see what works and what needs to be worked on.[vi]
